A huge sailing ship has docked in at the Port of Lowestoft – garnering much attention from locals.
The STS Lord Nelson, a sail training ship, arrived in the town on Wednesday, October 10.
A spokesman for ABP Ports explained the ship will be staying in the town for the next few weeks while it undergoes routine repairs.
They said: 'I believe she is here for the next couple of weeks. She will be going to the dry docks tomorrow for routine repairs and maintenance.'
It is operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust – a UN accredited charity which offers sailing adventures to people of all abilities and backgrounds.
The Lord Nelson was first launched in 1986 and is one of only two tall ships in the world which is wheelchair accessible throughout also features, wide decks, lifts between decks, power-assisted steering and braille signage.
In 2016 the ship completed an epic voyage around the globe – covering 52,577 miles with a professional crew and around 1,000 volunteers.
