Hundreds of men and women braved windy weather to walk under the stars and raise money for cancer patients.
The seventh year of the Starlight Walk last night saw more than 460 people walk 13 miles around Norwich’s outer ring road in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
They set off from the Sportspark at the University of East Anglia at midnight, walked the distance and finished back on the Sportspark’s running track.
The night-time walk gave people the chance to think about lost loved ones.
Walk organiser Jane Rumball said: “We are pleased that so many people entered the seventh year of the Starlight Walk to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“The event started at midnight with a firework display by FLASH fx and despite the windy weather, everyone had a fantastic time. We would like to thank Chapelfield for sponsoring the event again, the support given from the Evening News and a big thanks to everyone who took part.” People are being urged to send in their sponsor money as soon as possible. Last year’s event raised more than £52,000.
The picture shows Heather Carpenter, Sarah Bloxham and Val Whyborn, who have raised between £500 and £600.
