Stalham care worker Sue Bumstead, who has worked at the Sydney House residential care home since 2002, has won a national award.

She beat three other regional finalists to win the Dignity in Care awards at the Great British National Care Home Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Sue, who works for Norsecare and received her award from Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke, said she was delighted to received an award for “something I enjoy.

Sydney House manager Gill Bailey said staff and residents were proud of Sue’s win which was richly deserved, adding: “Sue treats all residents with the utmost respect and has encouraged everyone who works here to do the same by setting up a dignity audit, which ensures we are constantly looking for new ways to treat our residents with the dignity they deserve.”

Julia Hayes, from Magdalen House in Great Yarmouth, was shortlisted for the Dementia Carer Award having won the regional award. Both work for Norsecare.
