Lloyd Addison’s daughter last night said her dad would have been “immensely proud” as 670 diners headed off on the Moveable Feast he founded 13 years ago.

The event, part of the EDP Adnams Norfolk Food and Drink Festival, in association with Norfolk County Council, had sold out.

Cynthia Addison, whose husband Lloyd began the feast as a way to support Norwich’s restaurants and raise money for Parkinson’s UK, said: “This is the 13th year and I think I could have sold it out two-fold.”

Mr Addison, who had Parkinson’s disease, died in 2008. Since then the event has continued to raise increasing amounts of money for his chosen charity. After bringing in £8,500 in 2011, organisers were confident last night’s event would at least match that. Mr and Mrs Addison’s daughter Lauren said the Moveable Feast “epitomised everything he lived for”, adding: “All I can see is his smile – how immensely proud he would be.

“There was no bigger advocate for Norwich. He loved the restaurant industry and was so passionate about everyone having a good time.”

Last night’s feast saw diners enjoying a three-course meal in three different restaurants.

Co-organiser Nick De’Ath said: “We would probably look to increase the number of places next year by increasing the number of restaurants involved. There were 14 this year.”

New restaurants taking part included The Iron House and 20 St John’s on Saint John Maddermarket while Brasted’s, which took over Dragon Hall, and the city’s Raffles restaurant group continued their support.

Diners on the feast were asked to rate their main course restaurant during last night’s festivities. The winner, along with the fundraising total, will be announced later and named the 2012 Moveable Feast champion.

Tickets for the 2013 feast are on sale now. Call Cynthia on 01603 617269.
