General waste and recycled goods will be picked up but garden waste collections have been suspended.

A North Norfolk District Council spokesman said crews would first concentrate on collections outstanding from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Residents who have been affected should leave their bins out for collection today and will be emptied as soon as possible.

People are being asked to continue to put out their bins by 7am on normal collection days.

  • The collection teams from Kier have worked really hard, I have heard the mention of the collections on Radio Norfolk, this web site has carried updates. I am sure that the council and the collection teams have done their very best and will be back out on Monday to start all over again. I see that brown bins are not being collected. The stuff in my one is frozen solid, it wouldn't come out when they tried to empty it the other day. The lady at Kier was very nice and said they would take extra if necessary in a fortnight. I can't see me cutting the grass very soon. I can't see the grass!

  • Put out you bins and leave them out. Failing that, don't worry about them. The rubbish bins are not going to start smelling in these temperatures. If the bin collectors are a few days late, I wont be worrying. If the bin men can get around, why can't the teachers??

  • My grateful thanks to those who do this often thankless job and as at the moment, in difficult situations.

  • Omni - surely you could have picked a better time for Council bashing and managed to use your 'nowse' as others have suggested. Were you expecting a personal phone call from the leader? I can only urge everyone to be reasonable, realistic and sympathetic. Hopefully most people will anyway without the need to be told. Mine hasn't been collected, I fully understand why and it will stay out the front until it has. Taking it back in again only adds to the pressure to collect 'missed bins' for those who haven't the sense to use the organ situated between their ears!

  • Surely if your bin is not emptied when it's like this outside you do not need to ask why? Lord Elf is quite right, why worry about it at this time of year. Put it out and leave it out. They'll get to us when they can. Good work lads, keep it up.

  • So how does NNDC communicate with customers when they don't have the internet? Not everyone has their bins at the end of the drive ready to put it out "in case" they do come at some point. Missed mine because the last I read they had stopped collections.
