More than 30 schools in West Norfolk were shut this morning following heavy snow overnight.
The A134 was closed at Shouldham Thorpe, near Downham Market, during the morning rush hour to allow recovery for a HGV that has left the road.
West Norfolk council also announced today that all household waste collections (black, green and brown bins) have been cancelled because of the snow and ice.
A council spokesman continued: “The brown bin service has been cancelled this week. Please leave your black/green bins at your collection point as crews will attempt to return tomorrow, weather permitting.
“It is anticipated that all collections will run one day late this week, however, the weather will be assessed each day and this page will be updated accordingly. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The spokesman added: “ Brown bin customers who have excess garden waste due to the cancellation of these collections can request compostable sacks for the garden waste.”
