A charity skydive will take place next week in memory of a young soldier from Stradbroke who was killed in Afghanistan.
Family and friends of Private James Grigg will be jumping out of a plane at 12,000ft next Friday to raise funds for Help for Heroes and the James Grigg Youth Cricket Trust.
The 21-year-old was killed in an explosion in Afghanistan while serving with the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment last March.
His father, Michael, and sister, Victoria, will be taking part in the skydive with eight of Pte Grigg’s friends at Ellough Airfield, Beccles.
The group has already raised more than £3,000 for the event, which will be split between the military charity and the trust formed in the soldier’s memory to help young cricketers.
Michael Grigg said March 18 was the closest date the fundraisers could get to the first anniversary of his son’s death.
The group can be sponsored online by visiting www.bmycharity.com/Jamesgriggskydive
