Liza Wolfe is best known as a singer-songwriter, touring the UK and playing at weddings, holiday parks, pubs and clubs.
But after decades of gigging, the self-confessed home-bird has decided it is time to put down roots in north Norfolk and has opened her own clothes shop in Aylsham called Wolfe.
Ms Wolfe, who lives in Banningham, near Aylsham, said the idea for a shop struck her in a “light bulb moment” while at a clothes show in London.
The mother-of-two said: “I was getting to the stage where I wanted to do something a bit different and I wanted to wind down the gigs a bit.
“And in Aylsham there is a niche for the sort of thing I wanted to do.”
From playing gigs in the UK in the 80s and 90s to touring Europe and the Middle East for two years as part of an Abba tribute act, Ms Wolfe has had an eclectic career.
She spent some time as a retail training consultant 10 years ago, but maintains music had always been her primary passion.
She said: “Songwriting has always been part of me. It goes way back to when I was in Girl Guides. I remember writing these little songs.
“I had a child very young. I did have a lot of opportunities but didn’t really follow them through.”
Now she has chosen the market town as a base for her new venture.
The new shop is a family affair, with her son Greig, 37, investing in the business and daughter Bryonie, 18, helping out in the shop.
She said: “I think Holt is coming to Aylsham; it has a lot of new houses being built.”
Ms Wolfe has gained experience with independent shops working in her partner David Hanton’s Norwich shop Mod One where she helped with buying, stocking and the day-to-day operation.
She said: “I decided because I am not a mod – I am a rocker – I wanted to try something a bit smarter.”
The new shop in Red Lion Street will cater for people in the 30 to 50 age bracket, with dresses, suits and contemporary country wear.
Ms Wolfe says she will still play gigs and hopes to release a new album.
