Two volumes of The Stations and Structures of the M and G N explore the complexities of the infrastructure of the fascinating railway, with the modeller very much in mind, he explained.

Volume One features the architecture of the line, including stations, railway cottages, gatehouses, goods sheds and locomotive sheds, with many drawings and photographs, and covers an area from Lowestoft to Melton Constable via North Walsham and Aylsham, Mundesley and Cromer.

Volume Two will deal with the signalling and civil engineering and complete the journey from Norwich to Peterborough, Spalding and Bourne.

Mr Digby, from Cromer, is president of the M and G N Circle where his father was a founder member.

He is also well-known as a rock guitar tutor, who has a new band Almost Angels, and says the dual interest in trains and music is shared with people such as Pete Waterman .

He will be signing copies of the new book at Sheringham’s heritage station from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Signed copies are also available from Jarrold, Cromer.
