Sheringham’s youth hostel is one of 61 across England and Wales that will be throwing its doors open to the local community on Sunday September 7.

The session running from 11am to 4pm to celebrate Youth Hostel Association Day.

The Sheringham hostel in Cremer’s Drift is hosting a day of fun-filled, hands-on activities along with an art exhibition, and an appearance from Sheringham Town Crier Tony Nelson.

Refreshments will be available and visitors will also get a chance to explore and discover all that the hostel has on offer.

All the money raised from the event, and all others held on YHA day 2014, will go towards YHA’s Breaks for Kids fund, which helps pay for financially disadvantaged children to take part in school trips to Youth Hostels.

Adrian Dyde, manager of YHA Sheringham, said the day was “the perfect opportunity for us to show visitors and the local community all that we have to offer, above and beyond great value accommodation” as well as a thank you for the continued community support.

Since 2011 more than £22 million has been invested in more than 130 properties, which are now a far cry from the draughty dormitories some people may remember in their youth.
