Sheringham welcomes cousins from overseas in 30-year celebrations
Thirty years of town twinning in Sheringham was celebrated with a visit of 34 residents from northern Germany.
Guests from twin town, Otterndorf, near Hamburg, were welcomed by mayor David Gooch and pupils from the high school, followed by afternoon tea served by Sheringham WI.
Evelyn Meakin, association chairman, said: “The varied programme for the five-night stay included a visit to the Mo Museum, a private guided tour of Holkham Hall, Wells and a tour of King’s Lynn, which was of great interest with the Hanseatic connections to Hamburg.
“A civic celebration dinner was held at Sheringham golf club to mark the 30th charter anniversary of the partnership. A farewell buffet was arranged at Upper Sheringham village hall prior to an early departure to Harwich for the ferry.”
The association is planning a return visit next year.
