A sea shanty choir is staging a rousing finale to its silver anniversary year.
And the group is inviting good causes to bid for a share of the proceeds from the last celebration concert of their 25th year. The Sheringham Shantymen will sign off their milestone with a third special concert at Cromer Pier Pavilion on November 6.
To say 'thank you' to the local people who have supported the group through their quarter century the choir will give all the proceeds from the event to four good causes.
One will be the RNLI, which has been closely linked to the Shantymen throughout their history.
The other three will be chosen on the night of the concert - from applications made beforehand.
Chairman Bob Hawkins said the trio, which must be Registered Norfolk Charities, would be picked at random from those who have expressed a written interest.
'So to be in with a chance, we are asking everyone to complete the form on our website and send it to our secretary,' he added.
The anniversary has been a busy one for the group, which has toured Europe, Ireland and United States singing at folk events and maritime festivals since it launched in 1990.
It has done more than 40 events as well as two previous special celebration concert at Sheringham.
Final details of the Cromer show are still being planned but secretary Dick Grieve said the concert aimed to 'tell the story of the road we have travelled over the last 25 and include a few well-placed anecdotes from our resident comedians.
Cromer writer and entertainer Keith Skipper will also appear to add his own brand of rural humour.
Mr Skipper said: 'As an honorary Crab, I am truly flattered to be invited to take part in this milestone cultural treat – and delighted to note how Cromer is providing a 'safe house' for a flock of Sheringham's lesser-spotted warblers.'
Shantymen music director Brian Farrow said: 'This has been a wonderful year for us and this will be a very special show. But I would like to add some very specific thanks to all of the guys, some still with us, many who have left, but to all who travelled this road with us. We could not have done it without them.'
The group also plans to make another CD late this year or early next which will feature 24 of their favourite and most popular songs - but are also asking the public to suggest their favourites too.
