A US woman is helping a Norfolk man stitch together his family tree, after reading about a new civilian memorial on the North Norfolk News website.
Brian Farrow, 77, has been celebrating after Sheringham Town Council erected a memorial to the 14 civilians, including three members of his family, that died in the town from air raids in the Second World War.
The story was picked up on the internet by Susan Bogardus, from Howard City, Michigan, who said: 'My mother-in-law's maiden name was Mabel Hazel Farrow. She married US serviceman, John Bogardus and they travelled to Michigan with their two-year-old son, my husband, who was born in 1953 in West Runton. Mabel is 87 now.'
Mr Farrow said that Mabel Bogardus' father Fred and his grandfather William were brothers. He added: 'One of Mabel's nieces, Elaine Thompson, contacted me from Upper Sheringham and we were able to stitch together the family tree.'
