Sheringham Lifeboat

A family waded to safety with the help of lifeguards after mistakenly believing they were trapped on coastal defences in Sheringham.

The two adults and two children thought they were trapped by deep water on the rock armour groyne at the extreme east end of the town yesterday (August 12).

The Sheringham Lifeboat was called to their aid at 5.30pm by Yarmouth Coastguard but stood by as the local lifeguards assisted the family off the groyne.

The water was in fact quite shallow in between the swells and the lifeguards were able to walk out to assist the casualties and help them of the groyne.
