Mum-of-two Emma Thorburn is hoping to find a way to cake-lovers' hearts at this weekend's Crab and Lobster Festival, with Love Pots, her new line of cupcakes which come sealed in a glass jar.

Since launching her cake-making business, Buns for Fun, four years ago, Emma has created cakes ranging from a giant-sized gingerbread house for Holkham Hall's Christmas celebrations, to cakes for weddings, birthdays, funerals and even a vasectomy party.

She came up with the idea of creating cupcakes in a lidded jar after visiting a cake-loving friend in Australia last year and set about devising recipes using ingredients ranging from locally produced preserves, to brandy buttercream and edible gold.

'The great thing about having a cupcake in a pot is that you don't have to worry about it getting squashed, you can just stick it in your pocket,' Emma said.

The cakes, which are on sale in local outlets including Cromer tourist information centre and Kelling Heath Holiday Park, can be personalised, making them ideal as wedding favours or birthday gifts.

They also come complete with a spoon, so can be eaten on the go.

'I wanted to take my business in a new direction and, so far, I have had some amazing feedback, so I hope Pots of Love will be a real success,' Emma said.

Emma will be running a stall outside the Lobster pub, Sheringham, as part of this year's Crab and Lobster Festival.
