Friends, family members and people of all ages gathered to celebrate the lives of two popular teenagers who died six years ago.
Since Sam Jaggard and Kathryn Rivett died in a car crash at Gillingham in July 2012, an annual football match and family fun day has been held to remember them and raise money for good causes.
And the weather didn't dampen spirits or keep people away as hundreds turned out to celebrate the lives of the two amazing youngsters at the charity memorial match at Kirkley and Pakefield Football Club's ground in Walmer Road on Sunday, August 26.
Sam and Kathryn, who both lived in Carlton Colville and attended Kirkley High School, suffered fatal injuries in the collision on the A143/A146 Norwich Road six years ago.
The seventh annual match was between teams made up of Sam's friends and the friends of his brother TJ (Tom Jaggard) – with a 'record' £1504 raised.
The match was kicked off by Daniel Jillings, and a spokesman for the event organisers – overseen by Sam's mum Chris Lea, and Kathryn's parents Martin and Lyn Rivett – said: 'The match was very competitive with tackles flying in and superb passing by both teams. The match ended in a 2-1 win to Sam's mates with Jordan Gissing netting both goals for Sam's mates and Tom Pearce scoring for Tom's mates.'
After the match, there was live music, with the clubhouse 'packed' as the spectators enjoyed music from Calvin Chadwick.
'There was a huge raffle and thanks go out to all the traders of Lowestoft who contributed prizes,' the spokesman added.
The Jason Grimmer man of the match award was decided by Jason's great friend Gary Boyd, as it was presented to worthy winner Tom Pearce.
'A huge thank you goes out to Holly Bessey, the day would not be the success it always is without her energy, help and support,' the spokesman added.
The money raised will be donated to the Waveney Deaf Children's Society, Hearing Dogs and the Thursday Club which is a club for adults with special needs and learning disabilities held at Ormiston Denes Academy.
In addition, a kit for a young football team will be purchased in memory of Jason Grimmer. Chris Lea, Sam's mum said: 'Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with the event and a special thank you to the amazing lads who turn out every year but are also there for the whole family every day.'
