Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has lodged plans to build a new superstore in Gorleston.
The scheme was first revealed in August 2012, and now store bosses have submitted a formal planning application to Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
Earmarked for Beacon Park, a spokesman for Sainsbury’s said the store would create hundreds of jobs.
Bosses had indicated the application would be lodged by the end of 2012, but planning officers did not receive the application until January 30.
The proposal is for a food store, four further retail units, a petrol filling station, car wash and car park on land off Beaufort Way.
Landscaping of access ways and highways works to form Beacon Park Neighbourhood Centre is also included in the application.
Sainsbury’s agent is Indigo Planning Ltd, of London.
Council leader Trevor Wainwright welcomed the plans in principal when they were unveiled last summer, but they must still clear the borough council’s planning committee.
Residents have until February 21 to comment on the proposals.
