A bed and breakfast landlady from north Norfolk has pounded more than 900 miles and raised about £720 for charity after sticking to her 2013 New Year's resolution.

Jenny Harmer, who owns Chimneys B&B on Cromer Road, North Walsham, vowed to run at least two miles a day throughout last year as her way of supporting a close friend battling ovarian cancer.

Mrs Harmer, 48, kept her pledge - and has carried on running into 2014.

'I don't want to put myself under any pressure now but it's made me feel a lot fitter, less neurotic, and smaller,' said Mrs Harmer who has dropped from 10 stone 8lbs to about eight-and-a-half stone since taking up a daily run.

'It's the first time in my life I've ever kept a New Year's resolution! This year's is easier - to eat an apple a day.'

When the weather was too bad to run outside, Mrs Harmer kept up her running regime using a treadmill at a gym.

Highlights of her year's feat included jogging through Hyde Park before visiting the Chelsea Flower Show, and in early morning Charleston, North Carolina, during a summer holiday in the USA.

A definite low light was running after contracting food poisoning at a restaurant.

? Mrs Harmer's sponsorship will go to the charity Target Ovarian Cancer. Her online fundraising page is still open at: www.justgiving.com/Jennifer-Harmer
