Runners resurrect Mundford Mile for Queen’s Jubilee

More than 100 runners took part in a race yesterday to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
When Mundford marked the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, residents took part in a mile-long dash around the village.
That event was resurrected on Monday to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
Organisers said the 2012 Mundford Mile was “fantastic” with villagers lining the route around the playing fields.
Sally Rode, one of the Mundford Jubilee committee members, said it was a “really good atmosphere” and there were calls for the run to become a regular event on the village calendar.
The winning man was Mason Thorogood and the winning lady was Sandra Cooper. The first girl under 16 to pass the finishing line was Elloise Cordy and first boy under 16 was Archie Blakemore.
