The first floor of Roys main department store in Hoveton will not re-open until Friday week, September 21, following a fire in the building on Sunday. The ground floor was back in business the following day but the upstairs clean-up operation is still continuing, to repair water damage from sprinklers.

The fire broke out at a till point just before 1am and a fire service spokesman said early indications suggested an electrical fault. The ground floor was unaffected, as were all other businesses in the area.

  • Glad the fire did not spread. I remember the when Roys burned down in 1995.
