Britains famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, pianist John Lill and jazz singer Clare Teal with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra are on the bill for this year's King's Lynn Festival.

They will also be joined by guitarist Craig Ogden with the London Tango Quintet.

Festival chair Alison Croose announced the line-up at the Bank House restaurant, in King's Lynn.

'The festival continues with excellence, there's an artistic line-up with music, jazz and tango,' she said.

'It will coincide with two significant anniversaries, the start of the Great War 100 years ago as well as the death of Charles Burney,'

Charles Burney (1726 - 1814) was a celebrated church organist at St Margaret's and musical historian.

One of his descendants and namesakes, Charles Burney, said: 'My ancestor was a curious character. He was a very able communicator with great ability.

'It has been a privilege and pleasure to come here and be remembered in King's Lynn.'

West Norfolk Mayor Elizabeth Watson also attended the event. She said: 'It is brilliant, fantastic. I love it. I am looking forward to the Navarra String Quartet.'

The Festival exhibition will feature work by West Norfolk Artists Association in the Fermoy Gallery at Lynn Arts Centre.

The annual festival will run from July 13 - 26.

The box office at the Corn Exchange opens on Monday, April 14, to friends of the festival and on April 28 to the public.
