Rotary club reunion between King’s Lynn and Emmerich-Rees
Almost 40 years ago the Rotary Clubs of King’s Lynn and Emmerich-Rees in Germany were preparing a formal twinning bond between their clubs.
Since then there have been regular visits and exchanges between the clubs and strong bonds of friendship have been established between individuals and families.
One of the original German members has just re-established contact with the English family they met when the original contacts were made, and many younger members have followed in the footsteps of the early pioneers who founded the bond.
The Emmerich Rotarians had a well prepared itinerary which included a tour of Cologne cathedral, a guided tour of the Kroller Muller Museum followed by dinner at the Rheinpromenade restaurant.
Brunch was arranged with hosts and other members of the Sozietät Emmerich party was entertained in with a venison luncheon.
Next year, plans are in hand for the Emmerich-Rees club members to visit Lynn to relive and celebrate the 40 year affiliation between the Clubs.
