FIREFIGHTERS from Lowestoft quickly dealt with a blaze in the roof of a house in Kirkley.

Crews from Lowestoft South fire station were called out following reports of a fire in the roof of a property on Kirkley Run about 3pm yesterday (Saturday).

A brigade spokesman said: “Two appliances and the rescue vehicle from Lowestoft South were mobilised and arrived to discover a fire in the roof void of a bungalow.”

The crews quickly put out the flames and the brigade spokesman added: “By 3.46pm crews had scaled operations down to damping down, and carried out further investigation to establish a cause.”

With the incident “completely under control” by 3.58pm, the spokesman added: “nothing untoward was established, and crews returned to base by 4.38pm.”
