Crash outside Chapelfield car park in Norwich causes long delays for city drivers

A crash outside the intu Chapelfield shopping centre car park in Norwich on Thursday afternoon caused long queues to form on the city’s roads.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Chapelfield Road at 12.30pm following the crash between a Peugeot and Toyota.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Sprowston, Carrow and Earlham to the scene to help with trauma care and vehicle and scene safety.

The East of England Ambulance Service were also called but were later stood down after they were notified by police that the patient had been taken to hospital by a friend or relative.

The were delays on nearby roads for a number of hours and a spokesperson for Norfolk police said at one point there were more than 150 cars queueing on Grapes Hill.

The cars involved in the crash were recovered at approximately 3.15pm and the road was reopened.
