A road was closed after a car crash involving two vehicles today.

Wretton Road, Stoke Ferry, was closed at around 3pm to allow fire crews to cut a person from their vehicle.

The fire service were required to remove the roof of one of the cars to help a man who had suffered injuries to his chest and back.

The collision occurred between a VW Golf and a Vauxhall Amiga just before 2.20pm. A man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment however his condition was not thought to be serious.

Although initially the road stayed open it was closed for more than an hour while emergency services extracted the person from the car and made the area safe.
