Formal identification is yet to take place, but it is believed that it is Mr Pease, 33, who had been missing from Beccles since Thursday, October 11.

Police were called to Aldeby at 9.45am to reports of a body in the river.

Police, fire and ambulance all attended and the body was removed from the water at Burgh St Peter.

A police spokesman said: “A post mortem examination will be carried out later in the week to ascertain the cause of death.

“As is standard procedure the death will be treated as unexplained at this stage but there are no suspicious circumstances.

“The matter has been referred to the coroner.”
