  • And very honourable those NHS staff were too- I'd have done the same. My class, however, do not need 24 hour medical attention. Ha- can you IMAGINE the hysteria of 30 5 and 6 year old children if we had to stay overnight at school in the snow! I had children in tears when grown ups were late picking up due to the snow last Tuesday. Can be quite scary for young children who have barely experienced snow before, let alone on this scale. Just some more food for thought. Whilst obviously schools do their best to stay open, they understand that opening schools in potentially dangerous conditions is unnecessary. As others have mentioned these are days which could easily have been missed through illness. I am a teacher, not a babysitter. It is safer for all to spend a few days at home. I have been working at home every snow day by the way, these have not been days off! A teacher's work is never done! Northcity, if you read my last post again you'll see I DID drive to work today even though my school was shut! I would not have wanted to make this journey with a child in the car though as the roads were quite slippery.
