I want to complain about this content:

  • Salt might not work but a bloke with a shovel and a broom to get rid of the packed snow would. It is a disgrace and like many of the patches I saw when I was in the city on Thursday could have been sorted with a bit of common sense and a few minutes work. If there is a man to put cones down there is a man to clear the problem. Once cleared and salted and gritted many spots would have stayed clear with the number of people walking on them To leave the pavement from the bus station to St Stephens un cleared and also places where people step off into the road at light controlled crossings is asking for accidents. No one expects miracles but I wonder if all the staff who do outdoor work for the council are actually available to them and whether the system of buying in services means the council has much less flexibility in using manpower than it would have done in the 60s Perhaps a reporter could look in the archives to see what people were saying about Norwich streets and pavements in January1963
