I want to complain about this content:
@ T Doff - I think your ire towards the Coalition is rather misplaced. It is not as black and white as you make out. Food banks started in the UK in 2004 and it is true they have grown in number since the global banking crisis took hold. There are identical schemes across Europe, even in wealthy countries like Germany. The USA also has significant numbers of food bank. It is rather ironic that this story comes out on a day when medical experts are warning that action needs to be taken against obesity which is very prevalent in the lower social economic classes. Personally I think people should be given help in how to manage their finances and cook a meal from scratch rather than being given free food. That`s treating the symptom not the cause. The consequences of Labour`s minimum wage is starting to be felt - what is needed is a true living wage but who can blame employers for paying as little as possible when the government in most cases makes up the difference.
