I want to complain about this content:

  • If our powers to be would decide to adopt some precautionary principles and look ahead, they would not plan for more dangerous legacies to be left for our children. If Britain wanted to do something about its nuclear waste they would build molten salt reactors, China, as usual, is showing the way ahead. Molten salt reactors run on nuclear waste, use up all the reactive material and are more efficient, without making plutonium for bombs. Sizewell C should not be built, instead we should safeguard our eastern seaboard estuaries and marry sea defences with tidal power. A wash tidal barrage would generate enough electricity for two nuclear power stations, without a dangerous legacy and without changing the environment much for the wildlife. What little jobs Sizewell brings, mostly for outsiders, does not compare the huge amount of jobs created by establishing an alternative electricity generation culture in Britain.
