Norfolk engineer David Seaman was hand-picked to star in Screwfix's national TV adverts, which are being shown throughout ITV's coverage of the World Cup.

Mr Seaman, from Sutton, was chosen because he shares a name with an England footballing great.

In the advert he is shown leaning backwards to catch a glove flying through the air, however it goes over his head and lands behind him, in parody of an iconic football moment.

He said: 'It's fantastic to be involved in the Screwfix ads and be part of such an iconic sporting event. When I first got the call to ask if I would be interested in taking part I did think it was a joke but, what a great idea! It's been so much fun – I feel like a local celebrity and my friends are really looking forward to seeing me on the small screen over the coming weeks.'
