Red carpet glamour is coming to Fakenham with a big screen premiere of a short film about the town's first shopkeepers' Olympics to be shown at a gala evening in the town tomorrow.

People are being encouraged to dress up in their finery for the first showing of the seven-minute film which features action and interviews from the Fakenham Showcase Fun Day and Shopkeepers' Olympics.

This took place in April and saw town traders do battle in sports challenges including football, rugby, table tennis and tug-of-war.

The film has been made by Lonsdale Productions for Active Fakenham, a volunteer-run organisation which ran the event and works to increase sports participation and community spirit in the Fakenham area.

Active Fakenham co-ordinator Richard Crook said: 'It was a great day and the film captures Fakenham's community spirit and shows people some of the things that Fakenham has to offer.'

During the premiere, collections will be taken for the EDP and Fakenham and Wells Times' joint Let's Fight for Fakenham campaign, which is raising money to help people whose lives were turned upside down by a major fire which hit the town last month.

Mr Crook, who is also a Fakenham town councillor, said: 'We're holding a red carpet premiere as it is a way of having fun, doing something a little bit different and helping to raise the profile of Fakenham while also raising money for a good cause.'

The premiere will bee at Gallery Bistro, Market Place, Fakenham tomorrow with people asked to arrive at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Formal dress is optional but welcome. Admission is free.

The film will then be shown in Hughes Electrical, Norwich Street, Fakenham on Saturday for a week, and on the Active Fakenham and Fakenham and Wells Times websites.
