A leading wholefoods store has temporarily closed following a blaze at its premises in Norwich.

Four fire crews were called out to the Rainbow Wholefoods shop in Labour in Vain Yard, off Guildhall Hill, at 9pm on Wednesday.

The business, which has been trading in Norwich for 40 years, supplies more than 5,000 and focuses on 100pc vegetarian, GM-free items and organic food and wholefood in general.

A post on its Facebook page yesterday apologised to its customers, saying the shop would be 'closed for a while' and that updates would follow on its re-opening.

The post was commented on by several other Norwich businesses offering their condolences and support, including Head in the Clouds, the Natural Food Store and the UEA SU shop.

Heidi Kiddle, of Neal's Yard Remedies, commented: 'That's awful news, hope everyone is safe and let me know if I can help at all.'
