Politicians, business leaders and officials met in Westminster today to plan out improvements to the East Anglian rail network.
The rail summit followed a similar meeting that took place last year at which the group launched a manifesto setting out investment priorities for the next 20 years.
It was attended by MPs and representatives from councils in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex along with transport minister Simon Burns.
The meeting saw the group review progress since last year - highlighting in particular money won for work at the Ely North Junction - and set out further goals.
Norwich North MP Chloe Smith said: “That is why I am chairing this session; to continue to make the case for the improvements we need to the region’s rail network so that we get fair investment in the decades to come.”
The group pledged to work with the rail minister and Network Rail, which has responsibility for track around the country, to improve services and journey times.
Ms Smith added: “We must seize this big chance to secure improved infrastructure, higher quality rolling stock, increased reliability and faster journey times to provide the local residents and businesses in all four counties with the high-quality rail service they deserve.”
Naturists are to be banned from a nationally-renowned Norfolk beach following complaints about anti-social behaviour committed in the area.

Seize this big chance? What for yet more PR through ever more "pledging", "backing", "calling for", "getting behind"

For pity's sake use a more flattering photo of the special one when you write this up over 3 pages in tomorrow's EDP newspaper, you lot. You've got her looking like Daniel Radcliffe in drag.

I'm getting so jealous now I could explode. Another EDP love-in with the adorable Miss Smith. Watch out Dave, this one has such leadership potential, when she's not chairing one talking shop she's leading another bunch of hot air blowers. The desired improvemnts, to her re-electability, are already well on course.
