Runners will dress in purple in memory of a mum-to-be who tragically lost her life to epilepsy in May this year, along with her unborn daughter.

The Purple Run event will take place on Saturday, October 21, in memory of Clare Mackmin, from Diss, who died aged just 28.

The town's Heywood Health and Fitness Club is organising the five to 30-mile run, which will start at 10.30am from the club.

Tom Bobbins, Heywood's owner, said: 'Like many when we heard about Clare our hearts went out to her family.

'As we learnt more about epilepsy everyone at the club felt compelled to do something in Clare's memory that would help raise awareness and money for a charity which doesn't always get the recognition it deserves. The run is designed to meet the needs of most runners.'

They hope to raise £3,000 for the Epilepsy Society, visit www.mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/purple-run
