Kyle Warren had passed his driving test less than two weeks before the fatal accident in Tivetshall Road, Pulham Market when he was driving with his friends Dominic O'Neill and Billy Hines in his black Ford Ka.

As they travelled round a bend approaching the village, with Billy in the front passenger seat and Dominic in the rear of the vehicle, the car lost control and left the road, hitting a tree and catching fire.

Their deaths caused an outpouring of emotion amongst the community, with hundreds attending memorial events and the boys' funerals, as well as writing social media comments of tribute and support to their families.

A police report said there were no witnesses to the crash at around 11.45pm on April 5 last year but that Christopher Reeve, the first on the scene, described seeing 'what appeared to be a bonfire' as he approach the site of the incident.

He also saw skid marks on the road.

Billy's brother Ryan Hines had seen the trio beforehand and described them all as being fine, with no indication of what was about to happen.

He later became concerned when he got a phonecall from friend Emily Thacker on the evening of the crash, saying she could not reach any of the teenagers.

The three boys, who went to school in Harleston and Eye, were later identified by dental records but underwent toxicology tests.

Neither Billy, 16, nor Dominic, 18, were found to have any traces of drugs or alcohol in their system but Kyle was found to have traces of MDMA and cocaine.

Police were unable to determine the level of drugs the 17-year-old's system but area coroner Yvonne Blake told the inquest: 'There is no evidence to indicate the drugs he had taken contributed to the accident.'

Instead she said the police report expressed their view that 'the car was going too fast for the curve'.

No defects were found with the vehicle and although Kyle was an experienced banger racer, Mrs Blake said the fact he had only passed his test on March 23 that year meant he did not have a lot of experience on public roads.

Mrs Blake described the incident as 'very tragic' and said she would 'express my heartfelt condolences'.

She added: 'I have two daughters of my own and I don't know what I would do if anything happened to them.'

She recorded a conclusion that each of the three died as a result of a road traffic collision.
