Drivers who regularly use Tivetshall Road to access Norwich or Diss via the A140 described a twisty and narrow road which can be difficult to navigate - but has rarely seen accidents in recent years.

With the nearest homes in Pulham Market, the B1134 is very remote with just open fields and countryside surrounding it.

Betty Lim, 86, of The Green, Pulham Market, said: 'There's a little bit I don't like because it's really narrow. If you meet a truck it's a little scary at times.'

Chris Faiers, 43, of Julians Way, Pulham Market, said: 'It's not the best bit, even if you're going slowly.'

The road can get busy during the day as people use it as a cut-through on their way to the A140, but traffic is likely to have been sparse at the time of the crash.

Clayton Hudson, district councillor for the Beck Vale ward - which covers Pulham Market - said he and other community leaders would naturally examine the safety of the road depending on the outcome of the police investigations.
