Prince William and Kate Middleton will marry on Friday, April 29, at Westminster Abbey, it has been announced today.

Clarence House made the announcement a short time ago and it was also revealed that the wedding day will be a bank holiday.

The couple, both aged 28, met at St Andrews University in Scotland and got engaged while on holiday in Kenya in October.

The engagement was announced publically last week and there has been much speculation about the wedding date since then.

The Royal family and the Middletons will pay for the bulk of the wedding, but taxpayers will foot the bill for security.
