A pre-school which found itself homeless after fire badly damaged South Walsham village hall is hoping the community will help raise much needed funds.

Fire caused substantial damage when it broke out at the hall on November 4 last year.

On March 21, the school will hold an Easter fundraiser at its temporary base at nearby Ranworth village hall to raise enough money to move back to South Walsham - and to say thank you to all its supporters.

Committee member Suzanne Strowger, whose three-year-old son Felix attends Fairhaven, said: 'Everyone in South Walsham and Ranworth pulled together for us; the support has been overwhelming.

'We want to raise around £300 at the Easter event.

'There were obviously costs associated with the fire and we really need the money to replace some of the equipement and buy new things for the children before we move back to South Walsham.

'We were lucky that the toys weren't damaged in the fire, but they needed to be washed before we could use them again.

The Easter fundraiser will be an afternoon tea with an egg hunt and bonnet parade to keep the youngsters entertained.

'Fundraising requires such a lot of effort,' said Ms Strowger.

'It's often a huge workload which is why we really appreciate all the support we get from our brilliant local community.'
