Friendly, efficient service and a good choice of well-priced food have all played their part in the success of The Copper Beech in Costessey.
Situated near the Longwater retail park, the pub has seen a steady trade since it opened in October 2011.
A Marstons pub, it is run by management couple Claire Harris, 36, and Mike Scott, 42, whose former establishments include The Nelson in Prince of Wales Road and The Cock in Drayton.
“Marstons asked us if we would open their newest and biggest site, which was this one,” said Miss Harris.
“We have been doing this for 15 years now at a management level - but we worked our way up and met through the trade.”
With seating for up to 240 people, The Copper Beech is a large pub, but one that prides itself on offering a friendly service.
It has a number of regulars, some of whom have followed the managers and staff from their previous pubs.
“We hire people for personality and people who want to be with customers,” said Miss Harris.
“Some of our team have worked for us for a number of years and come from pub to pub with us.
“We get lots of feedback on how friendly and efficient our team are.
“There are regulars in here every day and the regular trade is building.”
The most popular meal at the pub is the carvery, with prices starting at £3.99, but at the weekend, dishes such as burgers, fish and chips and steaks are also best-sellers.
The pub has started doing a cooked breakfast buffet at the weekends and introduced a dessert cabinet, which Miss Harris said has proved really popular.
Real ales on offer include Pedigree, Hobgoblin and Oxford Gold, with a different guest beer on tap every couple of weeks.
Everyone from business people to families are catered for at the pub, which has free wifi and indoor and outdoor children’s play areas.
Keen to give something back and be part of the community Miss Harris and Mr Scott also hold charity events such as Macmillan Cancer Research’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raffles to help local causes.
The pub is taking part in the Time for a Cuppa event for Dementia UK at 10am on March 7 and invites everyone along to support the worthy cause.
“We are a pub for everybody and anybody,” said Miss Harris.
