Polo fans mount up for another fabulous festival
The Norfolk Polo Festival is set to return to the Langley Abbey Estate, near Loddon, for the fourth time this July.
Attracting professional players and hundreds of spectators from miles away, the festival combines the fast and furious action on the field with the tranquil setting of the historic estate.
Organised by the Norfolk Polo Club, this year’s festival will be held on July 5 and 6, with the Eastern Daily Press returning as media partners.
The crowds will be treated to four polo matches each day, and there will also be a shopping arcade and free children’s entertainment, offering something for all the family.
Rebecca Townsend, director of the Norfolk Polo Club, said: “We are really looking forward to another successful weekend. It’s great to have so many people travel to our club and play in our tournament – some bring their ponies from miles away!
“We are also lucky to be supported by both Sky Sports and the EDP – we all enjoy reliving it again on the television.”
The polo action will start at noon each day.
The first day will be exhibition day with high goal, experienced players riding alongside young talent from the new Langley School Polo Academy, while the second day will be finals day.
Eastern Daily Press editor Nigel Pickover said: “The EDP is delighted to support such a prestigious event in the Norfolk sporting and social calendar.
“We are sure that the organisers, players and everyone who attends this great sporting weekend will have a fantastic time.”
The Norfolk Polo Club is a professionally run polo facility fully affiliated to the Hurlingham Polo Association.
It is based at Langley Abbey Estate and facilities include two grass pitches as well as a full size arena.
Spectators can enjoy the fast-paced action from the exclusive VIP enclosure for £59 per person, which includes a Brasteds lunch, VIP parking, arrival drinks and more, and tickets can be purchased individually or in tables of 10.
General admission to the ground costs £8 in advance or £10 on the gate and children under 12 go free. There is no charge for general parking although a limited number of pitch-side car parking spaces are available for £20. The gates will open at 11am each day.
