Householders and businesses in Waveney are being asked for their views on the future of public services as the district council faces up to a £1.25m cut in government funding over the next two years.
Waveney District Council says that “through hard work and careful planning” it will be able to deliver a balanced budget next year. However, it will face a 1.8pc reduction in funding for the 12 months starting in April, and this will be followed by a 5.8pc reduction in 2014-15 – a cut of more than £900,000 in that year alone.
Following the announcement of the financial settlement earlier this month, Waveney District Council is asking people for their opinions on the way it supports communities and businesses in the difficult economic climate.
The consultation was launched on Christmas Eve and will be available on the Waveney website via a link from the homepage – www.waveney.gov.uk – and it will last for six weeks, closing on Friday, January 31.
