The Duke of Cambridge, bosses at Network Rail and former Norwich City footballer Jeremy Goss have been challenged by Norwich MP Chloe Smith to join a host of celebrities and politicians to be doused by ice cold water in the name of charity.

The Norwich North MP took part in the latest charity trend “The Ice Bucket Challenge” this morning, after she was nominated by EDP and Norwich Evening News assistant editor and digital editor David Powles.

Posting a picture on the social media website Twitter, she said: “My #IceBucketChallenge thanks to @David_Powles for nomination. I nominate @11Gossy, Prince William at @EastAngliAirAmb and @networkrail.”

Before having cold water poured over her, she said: “My three nominations after this are as follows. Number one Jeremy Goss, Gossy, as he is a great charity fundraiser for the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind here in Norwich. Number two Prince William, who has recently come to join the East Anglian Air Ambulance, which operates just up there in my constituency, and number three, whoever is responsible at Network Rail for the recent mess ups on our rail service.”

The Norwich and Waveney Motor Neurone Disease Association, which she donated to, was there when she did the challenge at her office in Norwich.
She has also uploaded a picture of her being covered in water onto the video sharing website You Tube.

Earlier this week Ms Smith blasted Network Rail over repeated disruption to the link between Norfolk and London, saying the overrun on engineering work after the bank holiday was “disgraceful and entirely unacceptable”.

Ms Smith is not the only Norfolk MP to have taken part in the challenge. Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis did the challenge earlier in the week.

  • Nice one....pity Chloe did not nominate some of the less active local MP's as well. Apart from Norman Lamb I do not know who our other MP's are !

  • Hope she gets Pneumonia, but then as she is still a Tory, she would try and claim a cold winter payment .

  • How this works is that you get ice poured over you if you are too mean to give a donation. So everytime you see someone getting ice poured over them you know they are too mean to give money
