Up to £100,000 will be spent this year on community grants, South Norfolk Council announced.

The district council said it was increasing its capital grants budget after dishing out £70,000 to community groups, local registered charities, parish and town councils last year.

The authority says it is looking to support projects which improve community facilities. The closing date for applications is October 31 and final decisions will be made by councillors at a grants panel meeting on November 28.

David Goldson, chairman of the grants panel, said: “Our smaller grants initiative at South Norfolk Council has been working very successfully for a number of years. These capital grants are for much larger projects.

“We welcome well thought through applications which will make a significant difference to a community.”

All bids must be worth a minimum of £10,000 each.
