A new act has been added to the Glastonbury Festival line-up – MP Clive Lewis. And he will be joined on stage by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

But the pair have not knocked Radiohead, Ed Sheeran or Foo Fighters off the top of the bill on the Pyramid Stage. Instead Mr Lewis will be speaking in the Left Field tent on Saturday lunchtime. Mr Corbyn will appear on the main stage as well as alongside the Norwich South MP.

Mr Lewis said: “I’ve become mates with Billy Bragg and he invited me down to speak in the Left Field tent. I couldn’t say no. With Jeremy coming along it will make it a great weekend.

“It’s not the first time I have spoken at Glastonbury – I spoke about Europe last year. It’s a great experience.”

And Mr Lewis is something of a festival veteran: “I won’t be doing glamping – it will be proper wellies and sleeping in a tent, even if it is a muddy one.

“Whatever the weather people enjoy themselves and have a lot of fun. I’ve been as a punter – I am a big fan of festivals.

“I will get down to the site for Friday evening so I can see Billy play. And I will stay until the Sunday and see some of the other bands as well.

“I am more of a fan of hip hop and trance but I also enjoy listening to the likes of Blur and Oasis. If I had to pick my dream line-up it would include Portishead, Tiesto and Sleaford Mods.

“It is my wife’s birthday – and she hates camping so I am not sure she is that pleased. So far this year I ruined our honeymoon because I had to campaign for the election and now her birthday clashes with Glastonbury.”

The festival opens on Wednesday and the bigger acts play from Friday. Around 135,000 revellers are expected and some of the big-name acts performing alongside the headliners include Katy Perry, Liam Gallagher and Chic.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell will also appear in the Left Field tent on Sunday.
