Former school librarian Lindsay Brettle is North Norfolk District Council’s new chairman.

Mrs Brettle, who was last year’s vice chairman, was elected at this evening’s annual full council meeting. She succeeds Peter Moore who stepped in part way through the year following the illness of John Perry-Warnes.

First elected in May 2007, Mrs Brettle represents the Glaven ward which includes Blakeney, Brinton and Sharrington, Field Dalling and Saxlingham, Letheringsett with Glandford, Morston, Stody and Hunworth, Thornage, and Wiveton.

Mrs Brettle has three sons and lives in Letheringsett. She is a member of the National Trust, the Royal Horticultural Society, River Glaven Conservation Group, Holt Society, Glaven Valley Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Rotary wives and Tangent clubs.

Fellow Conservative Barry Smith, who represents Mundesley, was elected vice chairman.
