Watchdogs have warned people to be wary of doorstep sellers offering power tools and generators.
Norfolk County Council Trading Standards officers have recently had reports of such items being offered for sale at homes in the Great Yarmouth area.
Officers warned the items may not be genuine and may not be safe.
Shaun Norris, Norfolk County Council’s Trading Standards manager for consumer operations said: “In previous years we have seen an increase in these kinds of sales being reported during the summer months.
“The best advice is to not buy goods or services from anyone who is unknown to you and who comes calling uninvited at your door. Residents and businesses may be convinced they are getting a bargain. They almost certainly are not.”
Advice on behalf of Trading Standards Services is available from Citizen’s Advice on 08454 04 05 06.
