Norfolk County Council has been awarded the gold standard in a major project which gets young people into work.

The authority received the accolade because of its involvement with Norwich for Jobs.

Launched in January 2013, the scheme aims to reduce the number of young people in Norwich registered as unemployed by helping them find work through CV and interview advice, workplace tours, work experience and apprenticeships.

It awards employers involved with the voluntary project bronze, silver or gold awards based on their work-related activities.

Keith Kiddie, chairman of the council's business and property committee, said: 'As a large employer we want to do all we can to help people gain the skills they need to secure long-term employment that's right for them. We're delighted to be recognised for our efforts with this gold award and hope to continue our support.'
