Developers hoping to build a large multi-storey car park close to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, have a month to reach an agreement with a helicopter firm over plans for the project.

Plans for a car park with more than 1,000 spaces on Colney Lane have stalled following fears the building would interfere with the flight path of the search and rescue helicopter - operated by Bristow's.

Last month, members of South Norfolk's planning committee deferred their decision on reserved matters for the car park until a compromise can be reached between Bullen Developments and the helicopter company.

Now the two companies have been given an August deadline to reach a solution, with the proposals to be reconsidered at the committee's next meeting.

Helen Mellors, development manager for the council, said the helicopter operators had submitted a fresh report this week, which would be considered at the meeting on August 15.
