A west Norfolk MP has welcomed a new childcare schemes which has been billed as helping working parents.

Ministers this week outlined the childcare options available for working parents including tax-free childcare worth up to £2000 for children under 12, support for children with disabilities up to age of 17, and a new childcare scheme available to the self-employed.

Elizabeth Truss, MP for West Norfolk and chief secretary to the treasury, said: 'This week's announcement is really good news for working parents; £2000 tax-free childcare for children under 12 years and support for the self-employed.

'By 2020, the government will have committed £6bn to child care costs, demonstrating a genuine commitment to help families, boost household incomes and ensure every child has the opportunity of a high quality early years education. I would urge all parents to refer to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to see the schemes on offer.'
